FUND FOR GRAMIN CIRCLE WELFARE DAK SEVAKS



The Department of Posts introduced Circle Welfare Fund for Gramin Dak Sevaks vide lr. No.19-31/2012-Wlf/Sports, dated 17-09-2013 after minor modifications in their Draft Proposal of the scheme published through letter No.19-31/2012/WL&Sports dated   
12-07-2013.

The Scheme will come into effect from 1st October 2013.
The existing schemes / benefits in certain circles will be ceased after the introduction of this Scheme.

Mandatory for all regular Gramin Dak Sevaks.
Leave Substitutes will not be considered under the Scheme.
Contributions to the Fund:

From GDS:
Subscription @ Rs.20/- per month for each GDS collected at lump sum Rs.240/- every year in the salary of April. Now a sum of Rs.120/- will be collected from the salary of the month of October 2013 for 6 months i.e., subscription from  October 2013 to March 2014.

From Department:
A component of grant in aid from Central Postal Welfare Fund of the Department @Rs.100- per GDS per Year.

Other sources:
Any amount collected by means of donations, sale of tickets for benefit shows and advertisement charges realized by issue of souvenir etc.,

Benefits are of three components :
1.       Financial Grant (non-recoverable).
2.       Financial Assistance (recoverable) @ 5% (as loan)
3.       One time payment at the time of retirement (conditions apply)
          Loan can avail for 2 occasions with maximum ceiling of Rs.50,000/-

Nomination facility is in existence.
Maternity grant for 3months to women GDS also included in this scheme.

DOP money remittance is a mobile application that enables us with immediate money transfer from one place to another place using mobile, through Indian post offices. The process for money transfer is very simple to understand and follow. For this initiative, India's oldest and largest communication service provider (CSP), BSNL will provide mobile connections to DOP’s designated officials and BSNL will bring Global technology for Mobile Money Transfer.
